JULY REGULAR PROGRAMS AND ACTIVITIES:
Active Adults: every Monday. 9:30 am-noon. Drop-in and socialize over coffee and snacks and participate in activities such as, dominos, card games, coloring, shuffleboard, and floor curling. Don’t miss this great opportunity to be both, social and active. Trainer, Nicole Manual will be doing some light exercises and stretches with the group at the end of the morning. Cost is $4 drop-in fee.
Boxing Fitness Class: These classes are designed to target all ages and all fitness levels. Achieve the fitness and skill required in a purely recreational and social way. Participants will not only achieve a greater level of fitness but will gain confidence as well, training at your own level. Come along to the sessions and enjoy a good workout in a friendly atmosphere and reap the benefits that boxing training will give you. Every Sunday, Tuesday and Thursday 6:30-8:00pm. NEW CLASSES ADDED: Wednesdays and Fridays 6-7AM (5 Bucks).
50+ Aquasize: This fun filled cardio-resistance exercise class will give you a full body workout. Every Wednesday from 10-11am at our aquatic facility. Cost: $2/class. This is a low impact workout. Perfect for stretching and basic water movement.
Swim Lessons: We currently offer Lifesaving Society’s ‘Swim for Life’ program for kids ages 4 month (Parent & Tot) to age 12 years. There will be NO Summer Session. Our Fall Session will begin in October…watch for details.
Youth Golf: Mondays, June 24th to July 29th, 10 – 11:30 am. Designed for youth ages 8yrs and up. Participants will learn the technical skills of the game through use of the course and driving range. Kids will be transported by the Recreation Department to the Covered Bridge Golf & Country Club in Hartland. We meet at the AYR Motor Centre at 9:30 PM & will return at 12 noon. Participants will get personalized support and individual feedback from Assistant Pro, Wade Lapage. It is recommended that participants have their own equipment. Limited: 16 participants. Cost: $90 includes instruction, transportation to Hartland and lunch at the clubhouse on July 29th.
Youth Tennis: Tuesdays, June 25th-July 30th, 9:30-11:00 am. This program is designed for youth ages 8yrs and up.
Location: McKinley Tennis Courts. Serve, Rally, Score! Participants will have the opportunity to learn the latest skills and techniques through development sessions, fun games, and activities. Participants will get personalized support and individual feedback from the instructors. Cost: $65 includes instruction and an end-of-program celebration. Summer Swim Team: Tuesdays and Thursdays starting June 25th to August 17th, 3:00-4:00pm(up to age 10yrs) and 4:00-5:00pm(11years+). This Program is designed for youth ages 6 to 19yrs that have the ability to swim in the deep end at least 25m (1 length of the pool). Participants will learn and practice stroke technique of all 4 strokes and will have the opportunity to participate in swim meets on Saturdays throughout the summer (not mandatory). Cost: $100. Qualifying meet is August 10th and provincial meet, if qualified, is August 17th. Coaches: Leah Calhoun, Taylor Tingley. *Please Note - User fees are applied to this program.
Hop On and Let’s GO!: Every Tuesday from June 25th to August 20th we’re picking up kids with the Community Van at three different locations: Poole St. Playground, Slipp Subdivision Playground and the corner of Broadway and Centre Street, to transport them to the AYR Motor Centre facility. Here, our Summer Staff will provide low organized games and activities from 1-3pm. We’ll be using lots of equipment available, as well as the aquatic facility, Connell Park playground and splash pad areas. Snacks will be provided. Kids will be dropped off after 3pm at the same locations. This is a free program and open to kids ages 5yrs and up.

Kids of Steel Triathlon: Monday, July 1st, Bike Check and Registration 8:30-9:30 am. Race starts at 10am. This Canada Day event is for youth ages 5-15yrs and is sponsored by Manulife Securities. The swim/bike/run race is centered on creating a healthy lifestyle for kids. Through a successful event, participants will associate sport with fun and personal reward, as well as developing healthy lifelong habits. Items to Bring: Bike, water bottle, towel, and appropriate attire for the race. Cost: $10 per participant; $20 per family.Includes a t-shirt, finishers medal, door prizes, other activities, and post-race refreshments. Canadian Tire-Woodstock has donated a bike, which will be given away in a random draw. Must register in advance. Payment must be made at the time of registration.
Outdoor Adventure – Strawberry Picking: For ages 5-14. Wednesday, July 3rd, 8:00am-5:00pm. We’ll be visiting a local strawberry farm to pick some delicious berries. Participants will have the opportunity to make their own jam when we return to the AYR Motor Centre. following that, there will be swimming and field house activities. Items to bring: swimsuit, lunch, water, snacks. Cost: $35
Outdoor Adventure – Chasing Waterfalls: For youth ages 8 and up. Thursday, July 4th, 8:00am-5:00 pm. At 8:30 we will head out in the community van to find as many local waterfalls as we can before we have to be back at 5pm. This will involve hiking and exploring through the trails and woods in the upper river valley region. Items to Bring: Athletic clothing, sneakers, water, hat, sunscreen, bug spray, lunch, snacks, swimsuit and towel, (money for snacks optional). Cost: $35 Must register in advance. Payment must be made at the time of registration. Only 15 spots available.
Youth Street Hockey Jamboree: Wednesday, July 10th. Registration 8:00-8:30 am. Games start at 9 am and event ends at 4:30 pm. Pick up 4:30-5:00 pm. Age Divisions 7-9, 10-12, 13-14. Parents pick up and drop off at the AYR Motor Centre Upper Parking Lot (Paved area). All players should bring hockey gloves, and their own hockey sticks. They should also bring a bathing suit and a towel as we will be going swimming in the afternoon. The purpose of this 3-on-3 event is for youth to be active and experience the joy of competing in an event! Prizes will be awarded to Division Champs! Cost: $35.00 includes 3-5 games/team, swimming, activities, awards, and lunch. Must register in advance. Payment must be made at the time of registration.
Outdoor Adventure – Woodstock Youth Angler’s Club and Archery: For youth ages 8+. Thursday, July 11th, 8:00am-5:00pm. Limited spots available! At 8:30 we will head down to the river. The day will begin with learning the proper casting technique, once the basic skills have been mastered youth will fish at local spots on the Meduxnekeag River. After lunch, we will venture over to the archery club located on Charles street. Items to Bring: Dress for the appropriate weather, sneakers/rain boots, lifejacket, bathing suit, towel, water, lunch, snacks, bug spray, sunscreen, hat. Cost: $40. Limited spots.
Glow Dance Party: Thursday the 11th, 5:30-7:30 pm at the AYR Motor Centre, downstairs in Studio 2. This event is for those intellectually & physically challenged adults. DJ John Allen entertaining; Refreshments will be provided. This is a FREE event!
Woodstock in-motion Games: Friday, July 12th, Drop off 8-8:30am, Games will begin at 9:00am and end at 4pm. Kids ages 5-7, will have the opportunity to participate in in-motion Games just like the big kids! This will include multi-sport activities, swimming, and fun games outside as well as inside (only inside if it rains). Items to Bring: Sunscreen, hat, bug spray, towel, bathing suit, and indoor sneakers. Cost: $35. Includes a variety of fun and active games, lunch, and a t-shirt. Must register in advance. Payment must be made at the time of registration.
Western Valley in-motion Games: Thursday, July 18th - Friday, July 19th. For Youth ages 8-13yrs. The Community of Perth-Andover will be hosting the 37th Annual Western Valley in motion Games this year! This two - day, overnight, multi-sport event includes youth from around the Western Valley. We’re looking for youth to represent the town of Woodstock at the games! *Please be aware that pictures will be taken for promotional purposes only. We will be transporting participants by bus to the event. Items to Bring: Tent, sleeping bag, pillow, water bottle, pajamas, extra clothes, toiletries, sunscreen, hat, bug spray, bathing suit, and a towel. Cost is $55 includes games and activities, supper on Thursday, breakfast and lunch on Friday, swimming, dance, movie, camping, a t-shirt and much more! Must register in advance. Outdoor Adventure – Cow Farm and Bowling: For youth ages 5-14. Wednesday, July 24th, 8:00-5:00pm. We’ll be visiting Culberson’s Farm in Jacksonville to explore a new process of milking cows. Then we’ll head to the Woodstock Bowlacade to try our hand at bowling. The afternoon will consist of swimming and field house activities. Items to bring – lunch, swimsuit and towel, (money for snacks optional). Must register in advance. Payment must be made at the time of registration. Cost: $35. Limited spots available.
Outdoor Adventure – St. Andrews Aquarium and Playground: For youth ages 8+. Thursday, July 25th, 8:00am-7:00pm. We’ll be visiting the beautiful town of St. Andrew’s where we’ll visit the Huntsman Fundy Discovery Aquarium and everything St. Andrew’s has to offer.Items to bring: a change of clothes, bathing suit and towel, water, lunch, snacks, bug spray, sunscreen, hat, (money for snacks optional). Cost: $65.
Tim Hortons Joe McGuire Road Race: The 33rdyear of the Joe McGuire Road Race will be held on Saturday, July 27th, as it continues to be one of Woodstock’s longest running traditions and part of Old Home Week. This event has great atmosphere and is open to runners at all levels. We highly encourage our community members to get involved, either by running or walking but, our invitation extends to those around the province, neighboring provinces and to those across the border. Race distances include 10K Run, 5K Run, and 5K Walk. Race route is flat and fast along the beautiful St. John River. This race boasts the fastest times in NB racing. Bib Pick-up and Race start at the Woodstock Fire Station/Town Hall at 824 Main St. No same-day registration. 7:00-8:00am - Pick-up bib and chip for timing. 8:30am - Race start
