CLOSURES AND CANCELLATIONS:

Monday, October 14th: Facility is Closed due to Thanksgiving Holiday

Friday & Saturday, October 25th-26th: Field House is Closed due to Fall Y’All Concert Event.

Sunday, October 27th: Field House Closed until Noon due to Concert clean-up.

Thursday, October 31st: Field House Closing at 5:00pm due to Christmas Craft Show set-up.

REGULAR PROGRAMS AND ACTIVITIES:

Active Adults: every Monday. 9:30 am-noon. A FREE opportunity to drop-in to socialize and participate in activities such as, dominos, card games, coloring, shuffleboard, and lawn bowling.  Don’t miss this great opportunity to be both, social and active.Canteen facility is open.

Youth Zone After-school Drop-in: This after-school program is offered Monday to Friday 3:30-5:30pm starting on Sept 3rd.  This drop-in program is an opportunity to get youth involved in a variety of activities in the Field House. Lots of equipment will be available for sport and games with the focus on being active and spending time with friends. Monday to Friday is FREE due to the generous support of the Woodstock Rotary Club (4 Days!) and Canadian Tire-Woodstock (1-Day!)

Swim Lessons:  Fall Session has begun. We currently offer Lifesaving Society’s ‘Swim for Life’ program. The Fall Session consists of 10-weeks. Lessons are scheduled to begin Wednesday, Oct. 2nd, Saturday the 5th and Sunday the 6th.

Jumping Beans: This is a free program lead by the Valley Family Resource Centre held every Wednesday 10-11:30am. Children up to age 5 years are invited to come play where creativity, energy and the development of physical literacy are encouraged.  Play with balls, hoops, and lots of other active equipment. Parent participation is encouraged.  Babies are welcome. Contact 325-2299 or www.frc-crf.com for more info.

Boxing Fitness Class: These classes are designed to target all ages and all fitness levels. Achieve the fitness and skill required in a purely recreational and social way.  Participants will not only achieve a greater level of fitness but will gain confidence as well, training at your own level.  Come along to the sessions and enjoy a good workout in a friendly atmosphere and reap the benefits that boxing training will give you.  Every Sunday, Tuesday and Thursday 6:30-8:00pm ($8). 10-punch cards are available.

NEW! Women’s Boxing Fitness Classes: Until Nov. 9th, 8:00-9:30am. Benefits of Boxing for Women: an effective full-body workout for women of all ages and stages of fitness. Not only does it give your muscles and heart a taxing workout, it also increases your stamina, speed, strength and coordination.

Fun Box Program:  Sundays, September 15th to November 3rd (excluding Oct. 13th for holiday).A 7-week program, 4-5pm in the Fitness Room off of the Field House. This youth boxing program is designed for kids 7-10 years, that incorporates a variety of coordination drills, strength-development exercise and mobility movements to help develop future athletes. Along with the technical components of boxing our program teaches youth discipline, commitment and builds confidence all within a fun and supportive atmosphere.  Cost: $55/participant…limited spots. NEW!...Official club t-shirts now available for sale at reception for an add. $10.

Archery After School Program: Tuesdays, September 17th to November 19th. For Grades 3-8. 10 Sessions/$100/Limited enrollment. The Woodstock Rec. Dept. will be transporting participants from Townsview and Meduxnekeag Schools after school to the Woodstock Archery Club. Parents will be responsible for picking up their children at 143 Charles St. between 5-5:15pm. Must register in advance. Come participate in a non-traditional sport.

Young Chefs Cooking Class:  Mondays,September 23rd to October 28th (excluding Oct. 14th for holiday). 3:30-5pm for youth ages 10yrs+. Wednesdays, September 25th 3:30-5:00pm for youth ages 5-9yrs. A 5-week program.Participants will be taught the basic skills of preparing simple family meals, after-school snacks, and baking. Other topics that will be covered are kitchen safety, food handling, and etiquette.  Emphasis will be put on creating more healthy choices so that participants are instilled with healthy habits that will last a lifetime. Participants will finish with their own personal cook book. Cost: $65/session. Must register in advance…spots are limited.

50+ Aquasize:  This fun filled cardio-resistance exercise class will give you a full body workout.  Every Wednesday from 10-11am at our aquatic facility. Cost: $2/class. This is a low impact workout. Perfect for stretching and basic water movement. Starting October 2nd.

Creative Minds Youth Art Classes: Acrylic Painting: Everything Fall. For Ages 8+. This session students will be working on Autumn themed paintings. Students create unique paintings inspired by Fall. We will discuss new painting techniques along with texture and how to create it. Students can enjoy mixing colours to create their own beautiful pallets. Cost: $125. Dates: Sept. 22nd, 29th, Oct. 6th, 20th, 27th. *no classs Thanksgiving weekend.  Time: 1:30-3:30pm or 4:00-6:00pm.

Strong Girls: Wednesdays September 25th to October 30th. A 6-week program. 4-5pm. Ages 8-12. Instructor: Nicole Manuel. A fun fitness class for girls of all levels, promoting healthy and active lifestyles in a positive environment. Purpose:  To connect with other girls and build a community and friendships that support each other’s goals and insecurities. This is a FREE program but you must register in advance….limited spots available!

Little Rock Curling After School Program: Wednesdays November 13th to December 18th. For Grades 3-8. Cost: $60. The Woodstock Rec. Dept. staff will meet with Townsview students and walk them to Woodstock Golf & Curling Club.  Meduxnekeag School students will be transported via the community van. Parents will be responsible for picking up their children at the Curling Club by 5:30pm. Students should bring their own indoor shoes each week. Students are encouraged to bring their own hockey/ice helmet. (bicycle helmets are not considered safe on the ice). If you don’t have access to a helmet, the club does have some that can be borrowed. Must register in advance. Come participate in a non-traditional sport.
