2013-"28 Woodstock Senators

 

The 1928 Woodstock Senators brought the town its first Maritime championship, led by Woodstock Sports Wall of Fame member and team manager (coach) Bob Brown.

The Woodstock side captured the 1928 Maritime Intermediate Basketball Championship. The Senators were comprised of John Pickle, Franklin Creighton, Howard Stevens, William Chandler, James Augherton, LeBaron Storm and William Riordan.

After going 9-4 in local play, the senators went to defeat the UNB Foresters 41-31 and 56-9 to win the provincial Intermediate Basketball Championship. The Woodstock squad went on to defeat the Mount. A Intermediates on the way to the Maritime finals. ON April 16, 1928, the senators posted a 35-22 sudden death victory over Sydney Y.M.C.A. Intermediate to bring home the Maritime Intermediate Championship.

In a two-game playoff to the Intermediate championship of Eastern Canada in Montreal, the Senators were defeated 27-24 and 26-19 by the Sun Life Club.
