2019-Team McGuire

Mary Jane and Megan McGuire took up curling at the age of eight years old at the Woodstock Golf and Curling Club.  While still Little Rock Curlers, the McGuire’s made the move early to junior bonspiels, competing with older curlers. It was during these early year’s bonspiels that  Mary Jane and Megan realized their love of curling and gained motivation to work hard to become successful at the provincial level.   

Provincial Titles

2006  Lounsbury New Brunswick Junior Women’s Champions with lead, Sarah Berthelot; second, Ashley Howard; coach, Gerald McGuire.

2007  Lounsbury New Brunswick Junior Women’s Championship with lead, Brigette MacPhail; second, Erika Nabuurs; coach Gerald McGuire

2008  Lounsbury New Brunswick Junior Women’s Champions with lead, Kaitlin Stubbs; second, Ashlyn Dickinson; coach, Gerald McGuire.

Each of these three consecutive titles earned Team McGuire the honour of representing New Brunswick at the National Junior Women’s Curling Championships (2006, 2007, 2008).  Their best national finish came in 2008 with 7 wins – 5 losses in Sault Saint Marie, Ontario.   The 2008 Nationals also saw Megan McGuire named 1st All-Star Mate.

2009  New Brunswick Mixed Curling Championship with lead, Jared Bezanson; mate,  Jeremy Mallais.

Mary Jane McGuire was the first woman to skip a winning NB Mixed Championship team in New Brunswick.

2010 National Mixed Curling Championship with lead, Jared Bezanson; mate,  Jeremy Mallais.

Mary Jane and Megan were the second women to play at their respective positions of skip and second at the National Mixed Curling Championships.
