2015-Peter Wilds Charles Porter
Woodstock’s fighting "Schoolboy”, Peter Porter slipped on the boxing gloves at the age of 14 and the local boxing rings were never the same.
As a Southern Carleton High School student, Peter won 16 bouts and loss 1 on the amateur circuit. His only amateur loss came in the seminal finals of the New England Golden Gloves Tournament in Lowell, Mass. to Roosevelt Malden. A month later, Malden went on to become the amateur middleweight champion of the United States
At the age of 16, due to a lack of amateur fighting in the local area, Peter raised his game to the professional level.
Peter continued to dominate inside the ring and built a professional record of 15 and 1, winning both the Eastern Canadian and Canadian Light-Heavyweight championship in back-to back years. Peter went undefeated through his first nine professional matches, with seven knockouts. He suffered his first loss in his tenth bout in a split decision.
With opponents often older and more experienced, Peter earned a Golden Glove reputation inside the local rings.
