2019-2003-2004 WHS Wildcats

The 2003–2004 Woodstock High School (WHS) Wildcats girls hockey team conquered adversity to win the first NBIAA Girls AA Hockey championship at WHS.

The season began with a roster of one non-skater, a figure skater, two AAA midget players, a core group of strong determined ladies and a pair of new coaches.

Improvement and teamwork on and off the ice was evident throughout the year. This group of ladies developed and matured in many aspects of life.

The season began with a van accident on the way to a tournament and hospitals in every corner of the province were visited as a result of injuries incurred throughout the year. They lost more than they won and finished the regular season in third place in their division.

Following the regular season, the team participated in the Moncton High School Classic where they posted a 1 – 2 record.

Determined and refocused, they were victorious through three rounds of playoffs.

The first round saw action against the Southern Victoria Lady Vikings, with the Wildcats winning the final game in the best-of-three series 3-2. In the second round, the Wildcats met the St. Stephen High Lady Spartans where they once again won in the final game of the three game series.

The championship series started in Woodstock against the Dalhousie Lady Condors with a 5-3 Wildcats win. The teams then headed off to Dalhousie for what turned out to be the final game. The Wildcats brought home the first NBIAA girls AA hockey banner with a 7 – 1 victory and a three-game series sweep.

The team included: Courtney McBride, Sue Pemberton, Kristen Chatterton, Erin Hood, Jessica Holt, Stephanie Sercerchi, Stephanie Grant, Kaley Galloway, Abby Barton, Caitlyn Crandlemire, Samantha Boone, Deidra Wheeler, Katie Simonds, Kristy Atkinson, Holly Uvilluk, head coach Brad McLaughlin, associate coach Steve Bridgeo, assistant coach Kerry Culberson, staff advisor Gloria Spafford, and Kristy MacPherson.
